Why choose
UVB Phototherapy

UVB phototherapy refers to irradiation with shortwave ultraviolet radiation. To treat the whole body, the patient, undressed, stands in a specially designed cabinet containing fluorescent light tubes.

Initially, we were using broadband UVB, but currently, we provide narrowband UVB phototherapy (311nm). Increasing doses of UVB are given by each exposure (three to five times weekly until the skin condition is cleared, failed to respond, or it is a pre-determined maximum number of treatments). The aim is to make the skin slightly pink but not to burn it.

Ultraviolet B, which is a component of natural sunlight, is an effective treatment for psoriasis. UVB penetrates the skin and slows down the growth of affected skin cells. Treatment involves exposing the skin to an artificial UVB light source for a pre-defined timespan following a certain schedule.

Phototherapy is suitable for patients of any age suffering from psoriasis, vitiligo, eczema, and other skin disorders which are successfully treated with a specific light exposure. It is generally considered safe for use by women who are pregnant or nursing, children, elderly people, and immunocompromised patients.
Phototherapy is very effective in treating the symptoms of psoriasis, vitiligo and other skin disorders. However, there are no cures for these conditions, so as with any treatment, flare-ups can still occur.
Phototherapy is a very safe treatment option compared to other alternatives. Possible side effects are erythema (pinkness, like a sunburn), a risk of premature aging of the skin, or certain kinds of skin cancer. You should ask your dermatologist to determine whether you are predisposed to those risks.
Thousands of hospitals, dermatology clinics, scientists, and patients across the globe have chosen Kernel for their needs.
